VFW – S/S 2015 Nostalgia – Hong Kiyoung – Elegant Saboteur Collection

Already a house hold name in Hong Kong, the Seoul native Hong Kiyoung is now making waves on North American and European runways! This young designer first broke out onto the fashion scene printing t-shirts and clothing, and has since seen his label erupt worldwide following the launch of his first menswear collection in 2012. Hong Kiyoung has translated his graphic experiments into the electric prints and patterns we’ve seen and sought after in each of his collections. With ‘Elegant Saboteur’ Hong Kiyoung stayed true to his ‘Minimalistic Exaggeration with street’ esthetic, bringing together strong structured men’s and womenswear in wools, knits, sheers and leather with bold and colourful graphics undoubtedly evoked from contemporary arts. The collection was complete from head to toe featuring bandana inspired, tie-back base-ball caps, sunnies with rainbow hued mirrored lens and statement footwear, a show-stopping collaboration we are ecstatic to see more from on Vancouver’s runways. Vancouver Fashion Week S/S 2015 – The Location

Vancouver Fashion Week took place from the 15th to the 21st of September at Queen Elizabeth Plaza under a 13,956 square foot tent. to present collections from 70 local and international designers, representing over 25 countries worldwide. A sweeping 90-foot runway across the centre of the tent accommodates a seating capacity of 720 people. For the first time in Vancouver, Tentnology provided a custom-built 31956 square foot white saddle tent, which spanned across the paved square at the front of Queen Elizabeth Plaza. LED lighting and effects created spectacular visuals. Vancouver Fashion Week welcomed International VIP media, buyers and guests to the event including Vogue UK, Elle Canada/Italy, Harpers Bazaar Argentina, WGSN, Niche magazine, Raine Magazine, BC living, Metro News Canada and many more. 7 days of international and local fashion and media buzz solidified Vancouver’s evolving reputation as an international destination for arts, culture and tourism.
